Dear Sir,
COVID-19 pandemic becomes the important global public health challenge. This disease from China already causes epidemic in more than 190 countries.[1] For outbreak control, there are several attempts. There is an interesting discussed topic regarding the management of long holiday vacation. Basically, the omittance on unnecessary festival activities is usually done. The main ideas are on closure of office aiming at blockage of disease. However, there are few medical scientists who have contrast ideas, “open office with postponed long holidays.” Those medical scientists gave reasons that if there is a long holiday and office is closed, there will be a mass migration of the local people and cause the spreading of disease. The contrasting between the two ideas, old international-accepted ideas and new challenging ideas, should be discussed. There are different strategies adopted by different countries. For some countries such as the Republic of China, closure of office versus open office with postponed long holidays is set and it seems that the combined method results in final control of disease. In contrast, Thailand and Cambodia first did not close office and there are an increasing number of infections at present. In Europe, many countries first did no declare for office closure and the widespread occurs at present.
In fact, the standards for infectious control are the closing of unnecessary office and reducing public activities as much as possible. The long holiday might relate to mass moving, but it also means the reducing of crowdedness in big city that might also means lowering the chance of disease spreading within the city. If there is a good local public health system at community level, the disease management at home might be favorable to correspond the possible migrated infectees from cities back to rural communities during long holidays.
